Against Tech Oligarchy with JS Tan & Clarissa Redwine

JS Tan and Clarissa Redwine are legends in the tech worker movement. For the last decade, they've been involved in almost every major organizing campaign in the tech industry. So when Clarissa told me they were writing a book about the future of tech organizing, I jumped on the chance to talk to them.

Against Tech Oligarchy, which comes out on September 15th, chronicles the history of the tech worker movement and the response to worker organizing by tech bosses. In the process, it shows just how much power tech workers have, and offers up a roadmap for how they can use that power to hold tech accountable to the people it is meant to serve.

Our conversation spans the origins of the tech worker movement in Trump's first presidency, the challenges tech work poses for tech organizing, and the need for organizers in the tech worker movement to embrace class conflict moving forward.
